range day

Earlier this morning the company was out at the range, trying their hand out with their weapons. They were doing a practice qualify test shot. I had the chance to go out and take pictures for our families. It's crazy being out there around the PVT's, they are all so young and look like little kids fresh out of high school. (ok well a lot of them are) Still its crazy to think that almost 7 years ago that was my husband, he was the one sitting through the trainings, getting yelled at and smoked. Now the tables are turned and he's the one doing the yelling, training and well since they can't really smoke them any more, we'll leave that one out. lol Although he wasn't out there today (he was on CQ recovery) I took the DS's some snacks and Gatorade's to help cool them down. It was so stinkin hot out there I though I was going to pass out, I can't imagine all of them in full uniform.
Here are a few of my favorite shots from the morning I though I would share. I wish we could give everyone a perfect photo of their SIT but that's just simply impossible. The families are so grateful and appreciative of the photos we do share with them though. I feel so honored to be apart of this journey with them as they make the transition from civilian life to army life.

After hanging out at the range for a bit, I made my way up to the Battalion area were our BC and SGT Major hold their monthly ceremony. Half of the company was at the range and the other half were at the ceremony. I was able to get a few pictures here as well to share with our families. This was my first new-comers ceremony to attend, lets just say I'm not sure what all the hype is about because it took them longer to file out in formation and stand at attention correctly then it did for the entire ceremony to take place. None the less I chatted with the BC, met the new SGT Major and worked on my tan.
Delta Company standing tall and proud!!!!
HERE IS YOUR FUTURE, PEOPLE!!!!!!

Do you help out with your spouses unit or company in any way?? If so doing what, what are you thoughts on it??
Here at this duty station is the first time I've every really really gotten involved. I enjoy it for the most part some days its kinda crazy but it allows me to spend a little extra time with my love and see him in his environment at work, which is always kinda fun.

White Girl Got Moves

DAY 114

Yea Right, NOT this white girl.

I had every intention on blogging about the fantastic time I had at the zumbathon today, & the world record that was trying to be broken. But it didn't turn out to fabulous & the record wasn't broken. I got there early, much to my surprise so did everyone else. I registered picked up my shirt & got in line to go down to the floor were the shindig was being taken place. Couldn't find my co-worker so I ended up spending the entire time by myself. I seriously wanted to walk about half an hour into it, but I stuck it out till after the timed part & then I BAILED!!!! Really it sucked!!!!!

The rest of the day was spent at home being lazy and relaxing with the hubbs. He went to the range this morning and did a bit of shooting while I was gone, I would have much rather been with him. While he was cleaning his guns I decided to do a bit of baking. I've been putting Pinterest to use by making / baking some of the things I pin. On today's agenda was a Lemon Loaf, a first for me.

It turned out so yummy and looked pretty to, Hey that's always a plus right. I took my time measured everything out, checked it twice. This had to be perfect because there was just to much time that went into it not to be. The recipe made two so I made a half cake pan for one and a loaf for the other. I ended up freezing one and we chowed into the 2nd one right after dinner.

Speaking of dinner, remember last night when I told you we were having pizza for dinner tonight. Yea well we did and it was yummy, BBQ Chicken Pizza a Southern Living recipe with a twist. We both really enjoyed it and thankfully I have enough ingredients left to make it again later in the week if we wanted. Add in a glass of wine with that and it was the perfect ending to a very chill day.

New Hobbies

DAY 86

We haven't been to the range in two weeks because it was closed for the Holidays. Needless to say the hubbs was super stoked about going today. He had everything packed up and ready the night before, almost like he was leaving on a trip, it was all sitting by the door. I had to laugh because it was so cute how excited he was. He is truly in his element when he is at the range (out of uniform) and able to fire his own weapon.

I <3 watching him shoot!

One of his buddies from work came and joined us out at the range for a bit. I was quite parietal to his shirt, a bit of sadness was was shed as you know Hawaii has a special place in our hearts. I didn't talk to him much so I'm not sure if he was stationed there before or the story behind the shirt. But it made me happy to see a bit of Aloha in the South.

I miss Hawaii so much!

Everyone else had the same idea, lets hit up the range its been closed for two weeks for Christmas Eve & New Years Eve. I'm sure a lot of them like the hubbs was out playing with their new toys they had received for Christmas. I can't say that we have seen it this busy since we started going, thankfully there was a spot on the end for us to set up.

His spread, I have a feeling this is only the start of a large collection of guns in our future. I've really enjoyed getting to go our and shoot with him. I did some when I was younger with my dad and brother, we would go shooting at the river house. Dad has shot guns and they were a bit intimidating then but now that I'm older I'm able to handle it better.

Breaking in the new home defense weapon as he likes to call it. "You never know what could happen when I'm gone so you have to be prepared" words spoken from the hubbs.

You have to pick up your shells when you are done and put them in a collection to be disposed of properly. Unless you reuse them of course and pack your own shells. I generally will pick them up when the guy running the range calls cease fire, this also allows you to go down and adjust your target if need be. I hate waiting till the very end because then there's so many to pick up and it seems to take forever. This is what I collected between one of about 5 rounds of shooting. Thankfully the hubbs has been stock piling on ammo so we have plenty left for next weekend.

Guess who picked all these up.

Next weekend they are finally opening the new range here on post. Its been under renovation for the last few months so we have not been to it yet, it will be interesting to see how its going to be set up. We've heard its a bit different then this one. Hopefully we are able to make it out first thing when they open at 8:00am so we are able to get some good shooting time in. I really look forward to going to the range with my love. Its a great way for us to bond and spend time together doing something different that we didn't get to do in Hawaii. Not to mention seeing him so happy about it is the icing on top of the cake for me!!!!
