Donuts & Sweet Tea :)

Its almost here......Spring Break that is, which only means one thing for this girl VACATION!!!!!!! Yup that's right I'm packing up and heading out for 10 days!!! Just me and myself the hubbs has to work so he will be staying behind. Before I leave though I've been working hard to get the house picked up, every last bit of laundry done and put away. As well as premaking some dinners for the hubbs to have when he comes home from work. The ladies I work with were giving me a hard time because I was doing this and saying I'm spoiling him. Ok so be it I don't care the man needs to eat right and he's going to be working long crazy retarded hours so what's he gonna do. Last night after I got home from the art auction I stayed up late making enchiladas and single servings of chicken pot pies for him to have through out the week. I also made a batch of M&M cookies for him to munch on. I absolutely love doing stuff like this for my hubbs and I know he truly appreciates it. Call it spoiling I don't mind, I'll do it each and every day for him.
He did ask me to leave him a note taped to the counter top to remind him to feed the dogs. See he is bad about walking in the pantry and not noticing their bowl is empty. So since I can't leave a whole bag open of food for them I gladly taped a stick note the counter area with a little added love.
On my lunch break today I decided to run across town to Dunkin Donuts and stock him up on his favorite K-cups for the Keurig. He's just been getting the regular package of Dunkin Donuts ground coffee at the commissary for the past few weeks because the D&D by our house is going under renovation. (they don't sell the k-cups at the commissary.) While I was there I noticed a advertisement on the counter for "Sweet Tea $0.99 for ANY SIZE". If you haven't noticed by now I have a slight obsession with sweet tea lol. I had no idea that they sold it either, I don't drink coffee so whenever we go I would just get a hot chocolate but in the summer time that's not going to be very refreshing. I sure was quick to add on a large sweet tea to my order and as tempting as it was to order a super yummy glazed chocolate donut with sprinkles I kindly passed. They are my all time favorite but I try to limit myself to only special occasions when the hubbs and I are out.
My plan is to leave the coffee K-cups out on the counter when I leave tomorrow morning with a card I got him, so when he comes home that evening he will find them. I know he will be surprised, its the little things like this that I missed doing when he was deployed.

The missing piece

DAY 26
Finally decided on part 2

With our anniversary tomorrow I seriously needed to get cracking on Gabes gift. I knew the first part of what I was getting him but still was missing the second part and couldn't figure it out. Last year I got him the Keurig he had been wanting forever. (thank you black friday sales) Ever since getting back on the mainland he has been in Dunkin Donut Heaven, he loves it and could drink there coffee all day long. After finding out that they make K-Cups now he tends to buy a box or two every week or so. That's when it finally hit me, he had wanted a single serving coffee maker for his office at work but didn't want a Keurig there, in the event that people would always use all his k-cups or break the machine. (they can be kinda touchy sometimes) He saw a commercial on TV the other night for the new Hamilton Beach "The Scoop" machine and was just raving about it and talking about how much he liked it. Well this morning I did tons of research on line trying to find out were it was sold in my area and the office name that it was called. We only saw the commercial once and it was quick so I had very little to go by. Much to my surprise after my research I was able to find it in stock at two locations with in 10 miles of post. SCORE!!!!!! I quickly rushed to Target and picked it up along with a supply of......yes you guessed it Dunkin Donuts Coffee. I know he will enjoy having this for work and not having to rely on one cup a day from home. Lets face it Gabe is a coffee lover!!!!

Kauai Coffee Company & Museum

I wahi kope nau? ~~~ Will you have some coffee? ~~ "in Hawaiian"

We made a stop at the Kauai Coffee Company for a look around. I don't drink coffee myself but Gabe does. We found some really good pancake mix as well that we just had to have and grabbed a couple bags to take home. On the patio you could sample many of the different types of coffee they had available and I think Gabe had a little sip of everyone.

The museum exhibits coffee artifacts from the past as well as a video presentation describing how they grow, harvest and process the coffee grow in Kauai.

We also managed to stumble across the Kauai Museum which was a neat experience in its self. They had artifacts from hundreds of years ago and even things they used today still. Camera's were not aloud in the museum it's self but it was nice to learn alittle but more about the history of the island and how things were in the past. Some of the house's we drove past while driving through the Canyon were displayed in pictures at the museum from decades ago when they were very first built.
