La'ie Point

Today was a very relaxing chill day for us, with a bit of exploring added with some shopping and relaxing at home.
We ventured out to La'ie Point which was very beautiful and an awesome must see in Hawaii.
Located on the Windward/North Shore of the Island tucked back in a area of homes. You wouldn't know this lookout was here if you weren't looking for it.

A little back ground of the area~

The Legend of La'ie Point:
Laniloa, The Mo'o
This point of land that extends out into the ocean is called Laniloa. According to legend. This peninsula was originally a "Mo'o" or giant lizard. Standing upright ready to kill any intruder.

After Kana (a legendary warrior) and his brother had rescued their mother from Moloka'i and had taken her back to Hawaii. Kana set out on a journey to kill all the Mo'o in the islands. In time, he arrived in La'ie where the Mo'o had been killing many people. Kana easily defeated the Mo'o taking its head. He chopped it into five pieces and flung them into the ocean. The pieces of the lizard's head can still be seen today as five small islands lying off-shore their original names were Kihewamoku, Moluaaniwa, Pulemoku, Malualai and Keauakaluapa'a'a.

We had a wonderful afternoon just exploring and taking in the view. There were tons of men fishing, families, tourist and locals as well. You could tell this was a very popular area. I'm now able to mark it off my must see list in Hawaii.

Below are a few of the 278 pictures we took of our visit to La'ie point.

I love the country side of Oahu. I wish there was a way to walk on the "hole in the rock". My luck I'd step on a crack and break the whole darn thing...haha :P
