Life Happens!!!!

We are in full swing effect for Christmas at school. We've done something different on our outside bulletin board. We split it in two and made one side a count down and the other a side to show case the kiddo's art. I have to say the idea in my head sounded great, trying to explain it to my co-worker and bring the idea to life was a little nerv-wracking. But we pulled it off and it looks great.

The hubbs and I celebrated 6 years of being together on the 29th of November. I can't believe its been 6 years since we've been together. 6 years ago he made that random phone call that has changed both of our lives forever. Its been the best 6 years!!! Sometimes it seems like its been a few months and then there's times it seems like its been about 20 years.

This past Saturday the hubbs had to work and I spent the day with this perky little red head. We went to the park and played for a while, it was such a beautiful day out!!! Sometimes......just sometimes I wonder what it would be like to have my own. with.a.90.trial.error.return.policy.though.

Its the Holiday's the season of giving, and I've got to give back to my belly lol. I'm not a huge rice krispie treat fan (I'll eat them, just not a all time fav.) but these were to die for. Peanut butter and M & M's added in to the mix, melt in your mouth delicious!!!!!

This is the first year we've ever gotten a real Christmas tree. Sunday we went to a local (ok 45 minutes away oops.) tree farm, picked it out and cut it down (well the workers cut it down) and brought it home!!! I love it and it smells so fresh and christmasy!!!! I also picked up a poinsettia when I was at the commissary Saturday. They brighten every ones day!

Monday we added some lights, sadly I couldn't decorate because I didn't have any ornament hooks. Tuesday though we got right to it, or I did. Hubby watched and gave his two sense. He does do the honors of putting the star on the top when I'm done. We kept it simple this year with only putting our personalized ornaments and a few other special ones on the tree. We didn't want to take away from the beautiful tree its self. I'm so happy with the way it turned out.

Our little home is decked out from top to bottom, it's definitely Christmas time here. Although with the weather we've been having you'd never know it was winter. However I'm not complaining, I'll take 70+ degrees any day over anything 50 or below!!!! It's shaping up to be a wonderful Holiday Season!!!!

My little family, gosh they have it so hard. It's a ruff life they live being a true American Hero and two lovable cute cuddly puppies.

I'll be back with more to share and update you on soon enough!!!!
I still have my Thanksgiving trip to recap!!!

The kick off to the Holidays

DAY 37

or thats what they say & I though it was.

While Gabe was snoozing away in bed after a long over night of Staff Duty I made my way out for a bit of venturing. I stumbled upon a ad in the local magazine that mentioned The Festival of Trees. Now from the description of it, it reminded me of ....... or should I say sounded a lot like the Christmas Tree display during the Honolulu City Lights Parade downtown.
In the advertisement it was said to be "The kick off to the Holiday Season" this has got to be good I though, a must see. The two of us had talked about going together and it was only this weekend. Since my love was zonked out I figured why not go check it out myself. When I got there & walked in much to my surprise it was MUCH different then what I had in mind. The idea behind the Festival of Trees is a silent auction and the proceeds made go to a local children's hospital. You get to keep the tree along with everything on it & some even came with different certificates to varies places. A great cause if you ask me and what better way to get in the holiday spirit then looking at beautiful decorated trees.
IF ONLY IT LASTED......I mean the trees were beautiful and I was feeling the Christmas cheer but the display was much more different then I was expecting. With maybe twenty 30th trees & 10 4ft trees I was in and out with in about 15 minutes. Many of the trees lacked spunk & piazzas, there were a few that caught my eye (hints the one above) but not many. To say I was pleased with the Tree Festival would be a understatement but I was impressed with myself in not getting lost on my little adventure.

Many Colors

DAY 24

The many different colors of Leaves

I simply can't get over how beautiful the trees are during the fall weather. I can't remember when the last time I saw leaves this color on the trees in my neighborhood. I though palm trees were breath taking but I can't seem to get enough of the colored trees here in SC. From the vibrant red & bright lively yellow. Every were I go I'm always taking pictures of the trees. I'm sure people think I'm nuts when they see me but hey I've never seen leaves like these ones and I'm just blown away by it. I'm sure you will see more in future post so just bare with me and enjoy the beauty that SC has to offer.
The best part is they are all over post, around the lakes & in peoples yard. It makes the area feel so warm and definitely puts you in the fall mood.

Honolulu City Lights

I cant believe its that time again. This evening I met up with two of my girl friends and we headed down to Honolulu to watch the annual Electric lights parade. It was the 26th year of the city putting this on & the 2nd year in a row that I was able to go. I absolutely love parades, its a great way to get into the holiday season. My favorite part has got to be the different bands playing & marching through the streets. Something about all the different instruments when you put them together & the music they make gives me chills.

An estimated 45,000 island residents and visitors flock to the grounds of Honolulu Hale to watch the lighting of the City’s 55-foot Norfolk pine and the Public Workers Electric Parade, now an island tradition and part of the spectacular 26th annual Honolulu City Lights.

One of my favorite parts from the parade last year was the Mr. & Mrs. Claus & of course we made our way down to the Christmas Tree and there they sat. Up on the ledge just like last year, with the turtles & penguins around them. After looking around at all the giant figurines we went in to look at the decorated tree exhibit. So many different themed trees makes me wanna change mine up every year & have it a different. But then again that would get kind of expensive and not to mention there would be alot of stuff to store through out each year.

"More than 40 uniquely decorated City vehicles, including fire trucks, TheBus, refuse vehicles, emergency medical services cushmans, the HPD mobile command vehicle, and parade sponsor units and mascots were “fully dressed” for the occasion, with 14 high school marching bands rounding out the dazzling 54-unit procession."

One last visit before we made our way back to the car & that was to the big jolly guy in the red suite with a white beard. For some strangely odd reason he'd though Sarah & I had been naughty this year. I think he had us mixed up with some one else.

It was a perfect evening out with the girls, the only thing that was missing was the love of my life.
