Life this Week

Our favorite CupCake place has changed their summer daily special list and lets just say so far I'm LOVING it. Banana Split, Banana Pudding, Banana Butterscotch, Bourbon Pecan Pie to name a few.
We can never get to much time at the Doggie park. The hot summer days are make for early morning trips.
This beautiful beauty got a total make over and now she's sparkling just like new again.
We decided to for go our evening run for a hard core 20 minutes (4 sets) of Tabata's let's just say my body was feeling it the next day big time. But the feeling after finishing is indescribable.
I joined the iPhone world finally after being a Mac / Apple lover for years. I mean I've had a MacBook Pro & a Ipad forever now so it only made since. Double bonus of getting a iPhone is that I can finally text my girl B in Germany and FaceTime with her whenever I want and do have to worry about chatting through FB.
Late night Date with the hubbs after dinner, we absolutely LOVE frozen yogurt and 32 degree's is right near post and they have a fabulous toppings bar. I kept it simply and classy with Vanilla Yogurt topped with sprinkles and reese cup pieces.

You got a friend in me

We normally don't go out during the work week, its just more enjoyable to spend the evening at home. Tonight was different though the hubbs picked me up from the car dealer (having some maintenance stuff done to the challey) and we went home to freshin up. We had a 8pm YES eight PM dinner date!!!
We were meeting up with another couple from our unit at the Flying Saucer. This is the same place were my birthday celebration started a few weeks ago.
I met G last weekend when I helped with the Special Olympics but not his wife. I was a little nervous just because I can be a bit shy at first and quiet till I get to know you. The hubbs has no problem making friends, he just doesn't get that it takes me a bit longer.

The first maybe 5-10 minutes (seemed like 30 min.) I didn't talk to A much at all. The guys were talking and carrying on, of course they work together why wouldn't they. I would randomly ask A a question here or there just to try and start a conversation. She was a very sweet down to earth kinda Gal. They are prego's expecting their first bundle of love the end of July. Once the conversations started  it wasn't to bad at all.
It was a nice random night out, that wasn't planned. Sometimes I think days or nights like that are the best. Slowly but surly we are making friends out here, it just seems to be so much harder here vs. Hawaii. Which you would think it would be easier here because the unit is so much smaller. However its the complete opposite which makes things frustrating. I guess with it being a small unit you get to "know" (from people talking) who everyone is and how they are.

There's that old saying "don't judge a book by its cover" well does that apply to meeting people as well because I don't think so. I'm generally pretty good a figuring someone out with in the first few moments of meeting them or at least by the end of the night. I've had a difficult time adjusting and meshing with some of the people I work with and I have a feeling its just going to get worse come the summer time. I keep telling myself less than 2 years but still that doesn't make it any easier. I'm honestly a easy going person and try to get along with everyone but if your not going to come back with the same kindness then I'm not going to waste my time.
I can't help but always think back to the wonderful group of friends we had (still have) in Hawaii. Though some of us have left the island and moved on to new duty stations I still know we will always have our little group. Maybe there it was easier because we all depended on each other so much more since NO ONE had family to run to when they needed help. Maybe it was the environment and the fact that we simply all meshed so well.
Whatever it was I MISS IT, so much that it hurts. I feel completely lost and misplaced here in the South. I make a friend and then one thing or another comes up and they are gone or life comes along and things change. I spend every possible moment I can with the hubbs which I absolutely LOVE but I miss my girls. I never imagined it would be this hard at the age of 26 to make friends. I know several people here yes but if I left tomorrow and never saw most of them again I wouldn't be heart broken.
I'm hoping as time goes on I will be able to meet other MiliSpouses and make some strong bonds with them like I did in Hawaii.
Until then its me and the pups when the hubbs is at work.

half & half

~half my day was spent running errands & the other half was spent with my love~

Some how after I got in bed well after midnight last night I was still up bright & early this morning. The hubbs was already gone he had to be at work at 6am for uniform issue. I had a list of things to get done before 1pm when he would be getting off work so we could enjoy the second half of the day together.

First on the list ~ was pick up the downstairs and put all his gear away that blew up all over the living room. There was also a good amount of trash that needed to be taken out from the day before. I hate stuffing boxes in the inside trash can but the hubbs has no problem doing this, which is fine only problem is he forgets to break them down.

After the house was picked up I headed out to get the oil changed in my car. I absolutely hate having to go and wait for them to do it. The place on post isn't open on the weekends, can we say RETARDED!!!!!! So I had to take it off post.

Thankfully it didn't take long at all only about 15 minutes.
Off to the Post Office & then the PX to pick up a few things & I was back home by 10:30am.
I decided to go ahead & clean the inside of my car because it was looking pretty bad.
In the process I got my house key stuck in the storage door out front, I finally had to break down and go ask the neighbor for help because... I HAD A LUNCH DATE YALL!!!!!!!!!!!

Remember L from yesterday she invited me to lunch along with her friend B whom I happen to work with as well. We met up at noon at a local joint called "The Other Store".
Its a fabulous Deli tucked away in a neighborhood in the back of a old gas station.
Text from L "It looks a little sketchy but its really great."
She wasn't lying either, it was a bit of a odd location but not as "sketchy" as I had in mind.
I never would have found this place if it wasn't for her, it literally sits right in the middle of a neighborhood on the corner street. The food was fabulous, I can't think of one negative thing to say other than if your in a rush well its not the place for you. Although the food is great the service is a little on the slow side. Reason being TOS is a very small joint with only one cook & one person taking orders. L filled me in on this when we got there but thankfully I was in no rush, I was happy to enjoy the outing & company.
Another friend of L & B's joined us for lunch and she was so sweet. They all went to HS together and still live here locally. I am finally SLOWLY getting out and meeting people more my age and loving it. Although I still have yet to meet a single decent army wife here that's ok because L & B just warm my heart with their kindness. I'm looking forward to many more lunch dates & get togethers with these two lovely ladies and their little ones.

After lunch I made my way back home to find the hubbs awaiting me :) I can't think of a better sight to come home to. We ventured out to Clothing & Sales & back to the PX to do a little shopping.
It was a beautiful day out, a bit chilly but the sun was shining bright as ever. Which was a warm welcome after yesterdays torrential down pour.

We really didn't do much other than some TV watching in between LOADS of laundry. DS uniform issue means twice the amount of laundry for me this weekend.

A Pinterest find let us back out, to the Commissary this time.

Our first time at making Fried Ice Cream. I was so nervous that it would be a complete disaster and the whole thing would just melt away right there in front of my eyes.
BUT IT WORKED,
it is a bit time consuming to make.
You have to make the ice cream balls, freeze them for a hour, add the outer coating, freeze for another hour. So two hours later frying time it was. I had the hubbs help so in the event that there was a major epic fail I had someone else to blame it on. lol

I'm happy to announce they turned out perfect!!!! Best part is this is something we can make in single servings and enjoy. We topped them with a bit of honey, but the options are endless from whip cream, chocolate sauce, carmel sauce, cocoa powder, strawberries.

It was the perfect dessert to end our Saturday evening together.

Got My Baby Back!!!!!

DAY 12

I got my Chally back

After what seemed like a life time (really it was just a day over a month) I finally got my car back this morning bright & early at 8am. We went up to the local Walmart that is located right outside Gate 1 to meet the truck driver. Poor guy got there last night & had to stay over in his truck, we told him he shoulda call we would have came up there but I guess he though it might have been to late. Regardless I'm so happy to have my car back. Not just so we have two cars again which is so much easier here but I don't have that worry in the back of my head about were it is & how its being taken care of. Yay I'm kinda crazy like that when it comes to our cars. We take care of our cars like people take care of their kids. lol
When I moved to Hawaii & went down to Sand Island to pick up my car I had shipped there the front bumper was snapped of and in two pieces & the back bumper was just hanging there by two screws along with a dent in the hood. Needless to say I was not a happy person and a complete mess, long story short Matson paid to have all the repairs done. This time around we were hoping and crossing our fingers that since it's such a nice and expensive car that it would be taken good care of. Listen to me I sound like a mom to my car hee hee. What can I say its just in my blood. Thankfully it was in mint condition & it delivered about a week earlier then we expected it.
I spent the better half of my day driving around to a few different interviews (I wont even go there) but after I was done I let the windows down, opened the sunroof and let all my worries, fears & stresses fly out the window with the wind. Now I just have to find the good local radio stations & remember to put my CD's back in the car.

It started out as a GREAT DAY which quickly changed & went down hill but my hubbs drop some fantasticly fabulous news my way this evening, he has the next 10 days off......... a much needed PICK ME UP. Just in time since our HHG's are being delivered TOMORROW.

Its not JUST A CAR........

......ITS A DODGE CHALLENGER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was pondering over pictures one evening trying to figure out this years Christmas card. I knew I wanted a picture of Gabe in Iraq on it and one of us together as well as the dogs. So there is three pictures. Good enough right. Well I got to thinking I could use one of the ones that I had taken a couple weekends ago of me on it and then that's when I came up with a bright idea. I'm so crazy about my car its my pride & joy so why not see if Brittney from Lowder Photography can take my picture on the beach and incorporate my car. So I asked her and she was ALL over it. This to is a surprise to Gabe, he has NO idea I did this and I can't wait for him to see. I think after we were done I was more stoked about this photo shoot than I was for the first one. I am thinking I am just going to send him the Christmas card early and surprise him that way with the "car pictures". Well that is if I can hold out that long and not tell him.

The pictures were taken down on a beach at Dillingham, the weather was perfect and I couldn't be more happy with the way things turned out. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the pictures, I though I loved my car before now I just LOVE IT EVEN MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!

ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!
