We Can't Say Goodbye to you at a Park….

Being of April I was babysitting for one of my favorite families and had a conversation about something on my Southern Bucket List. I knew with Football season over it probably wasn't going to happen. Little did I know that one conversation led to the best surprise a group of parents and co-workers could put together.

6 of my sweet co-workers put together a little lunch-eon in our classroom. I was so surprised and shocked. I had no clue at all, they completely caught me off guard and it was the sweetest little going away party. (although I'm so excited yet sad about the party coming up this week that some of my parents are throwing for me.)
Everyone made a dish to share, there was so much food & sweet tea. They know the way to my heart!!
About 12:45 Kristen made the comment "I know something you don't know", she just couldn't hold out any longer. She went next door to the other room and next thing I know is they are bringing food over to my room. Jamie said "You didn't think we were going to say goodbye to you at a park did you".
(the party this coming week is at a park)
We had enough food to probably feed about 10-15 of us. It was so fun to have our own little party in my room. As if food and drinks wasn't enough they out did themselves with gifts to.
A beautiful necklace and earrings set, Palmetto Tree and Crescent Moon Charm and a Monogrammed Cutting Board. Seriously have I mentioned how well they know and love me.
Because food, sweet tea and a few little gifts was not enough they had one more surprise. Remember that conversation I mentioned about my South Carolina Bucket List?! Well M totally out did herself, she told another one of our parents who happens to work at USC about our conversation.
I wanted to have my picture taken with Cocky before I moved. USC's Mascot!!! Why? I haven't the clue, but living in Columbia you can't help but become a Gamecock fan. It becomes in your blood as much as it's in the locals. They live, breath and sleep Gamecock Country.
You can imagine my shock and surprise when Cocky came walking into my classroom. It took all we had to keep our voice's down not to wake up the little ones. I had tears streaming down my face, with excitement. To some it may not be that big of a deal, but for me it was. This move from the South to TN has taken a toll on me. I am having the hardest time excepting it. I've built a life here, made friends that have made a lasting impression on me, I have a job at a school that I absolutely love. As much as I'm ready to go and be settled with my husband, I'm going to miss my life here so much.
Our Director told us we had Cocky for 15 minutes all to ourselves. What were we to do, it was kinda funny at first we all just stood around laughing like a bunch of little school girls.
We had so much fun joking around, laughing, dancing and offering Cocky Chicken. He didn't take so lightly to the offer. I tell you he plays a great mascot, not once broke character or talked. Even when little Mac woke up he went over and "patted" him back to sleep. I'll remember this day forever!!!!
And this amazing lady here, Jamie. My YaYa Sister! I can't begin to say how much I love her friendship.

After Cocky hung out with us a bit, he went upstairs were all the Older Hall kiddo's were waiting. They had NO clue why they were up there or who was coming. They were so excited, Clemson vs. Gamecocks rivalry starts at a early age down in the South. I remember my 2nd week at the school I was subbing in the Kindergarten room and one of the little girls asked me if I went for Clemson or Gamecocks. I didn't even really know who was who at that point but if someone was to ask me today, hands down I'd say I'm a Gamecock fan for sure.
When me and two of the other girls walked in the kids were CHANTING as loud as they could……..
USC GO COCKS, USC GO COCKS.
They were loving it, and I couldn't help but think "he's here just for me, all of this was for me". It was such a special day!! A couple of the older hall teachers asked me if I wanted to come work on the Older Hall that afternoon, since after all I was the reason for them being all riled up. lol NOPE, thanks for the offer though. They were so load, our heads were pounding betimes we left. I did have to get a picture with my favorite little man and Cocky though. Future Gamecock right here people.
I'm really going to miss this place, I've made so many great memories here.
It's not goodbye but rather SEE YOU SOONLY!!!

Forever Changed

Early Wednesday mornings the hubbs and myself boarded a plane from the South headed to Texas. I NEVER wanted to have to go home for this but I suppose you can say that’s life. Although I’m still having a really hard time with everything. (hints the reason I’m just coming around to posting part 2) This is hitting me much harder and very different than it did just a couple months ago when my Papa James passed away. My Mamaw was and is my everything. She is the rock of our family and going home has forever changed my life. We arrived at DFW around 9am, my little brother and favorite cousin picked us up from the airport. We headed over to our Nene’s house to visit for a bit before meeting with my mom for lunch. After lunch myself and little cousin Shae headed down to Hillsboro with my mom to take a few things to the funeral home. We walked in the room were they had my mamaw’s casket not knowing it was going to be open. It took all I had to hold myself together and eventually I lost it. It wasn’t suppose to be like this, I wasn’t suppose to come home for this reason. Still I have a hard time believing this is real and I wont be able to talk to her or see her again. She wasn’t just my mamaw but one of my best friends. A true role model in my life, I will forever cherish every moment we had together. That evening my mom took Shae and I to the river house were my brother and the hubbs were. Justin’s boss along with his best friend Chris came over for dinner. The guys were going to cook dinner out on the grill while us girls, Shae and I hung out inside keeping warm while finishing up the sides. That morning we got dressed and ready for the day I’d been dreading. We headed out to the funeral home were the rest of our family had started gathering. I was doing ok for the most part, thankful that the hubbs was able to be here with me because frankly I wouldn’t have been able to handle it on my own. Of course I had my family there but he is my one and only that I lean on. Seeing so many family members many I hadn’t seen since our wedding was such a joy, of course I only wish it was for different reasons. The time came to sit down so the service could start. Mamaw’s Pastor Brother Pew did the service and his wife Sherry sang. It was simply beautiful, the tears flowed and flowed. I found myself with my head in my hands hoping I’d wake up from the horrible nightmare but it never happened. I know its part of the circle of life but that doesn’t make it any easier. I loved hearing the stories from him about my Mamaw it was so beautiful. Once last I love and goodbye before they closed the casket. My brother, the hubbs along with 3 other cousin’s were the pallbearer’s. I couldn’t have been more at peace knowing for a moment she was in the hands of her beloved grandchildren. I know she is in a better place now, no more pain, no more suffering, no more 24/7 oxygen but still I just wish she was here with us. What I’d give for one more day with you here. From the funeral home we made the 25 minute drive out to the cemetery. It seemed like the longest drive ever. I’ll never forget the older man who was going the opposite direction along the road who stopped, got out of his truck, took his cowboy hat off and placed it over his heart. Such a heart warming moment for sure. There were a few words spoken at the cemetery. I took at moment to visit with my Aunt Joy who passed away back in 2005 and both my Great Grandma who passed away in 1990 and Great Grandpa who I never had the chance to meet, he passed away in 1972. My brother, hubbs, Shae and I left shortly after and headed back to the river house before heading into town to my Aunt Mary’s house for a small family gathering.
It’s by far been one of the hardest day’s for me and I’ll remember it forever.
I love you Mamaw and I always will. RIP November 10, 2013. She held on for one more day, not to leave me on my Anniversary and I’ll forever be grateful for that.

Just as I did with my Papa James I wrote my Mamaw a letter and left it with her along with a picture of the hubbs and I. Mrs. Sherry was kind enough to read it during the service. There’s no way I could have managed through it.
“I love my Mamaw with all I have. I still can’t come to terms that she’s gone. Gone physically but in my heart forever. Mamaw held our family together, she was the rock. You could always count on her. She always kept me in the loop with the family drama after I moved away. I will miss our phone call’s and sitting on the couch watching those horrible western movies. I spent every weekend just about growing up at her house. My life has forever changed. I know she is having the best time with Aunt Joy and Aunt Marie right now but I just wish I had one more day. I’ll love you forever Mamaw. My Angel. Love You Favorite Granddaughter Tiffany.”
She was such a Character, she is missed greatly.

With Mamaw, Papa Fredo and Mom before we left for the South.

I found out that my Mamaw was in the hospital on a breathing tube because she could not breath on her own. Back up a few hours…. she went in on Monday for what was suppose to be a day procedure only to last a couple hours and she's be on her way home. After the procedure was done she stopped berthing on her own and her heart rate and blood pressure dropped. The Doctors did CPR to revive her and bring her back to, which at that point she was still not breathing on her own but everything else seemed to be working fine. They had to insert a breathing tube and sudate her because she tried to pull the tub out when she was awake. My mom called me Monday evening when I got off work to tell me what was going on. I didn't really understand everything at first, she was in a medicated coma that the doctors were controlling. They were not sure if her lungs would be able to handle it and her breath on her own so they were waiting a couple days to see how she progressed. My heart was breaking my Mamaw is my EVERYTHING and I was thousands of miles away. My race weekend was coming up that weekend and our anniversary I had to run I've trained so hard, she would want me to run. (and I ran, more on that to come) The next couple of day's passed by and there were no changes, no progress but she hadn't got any worse either. Thursday afternoon rolled around and my brother called me from the hospital and said that they had taken Mamaw off the breathing machine and she was breathing on her own. Things were looking up but she still had a long road to go before she was going to be able to go home. We found out she had blood clots in her leg because she did not get enough circulation in them while at home due to her struggling with breathing. (back story: my mamas worked in a factory were they built helicopter's for the military, the chemicals ended up tearing up her lungs which ultimately caused her to retire early and ended in results of her being on full time oxygen at home.) I asked my brother if I could talk to Mamaw, I needed to hear her voice and tell her I loved her. He wasn't sure if I could because she was in ICU and there were signs posted every were "NO CELL PHONES". He told me he'd ask and call me back if I could. A couple minutes later I got a call from my mom, she said ok Mamaw has the phone to her ear…The conversation went like this… (as I'm trying with everything I have to hold back the tears) Me: I love you Mamaw, I love you." Mamaw: "I love you to" Me: "I miss you, I love you Mamaw." Mamaw: "I miss you to, you going to come see me?" Me: "Yes, I promise I'm going to come see you soon I promise soon I promise, I love you" Mamaw: "Ok I love you and miss you" Me: "You get better Mamaw I love you so much and I miss you I love you Mamaw." Mamaw: "I love you" Me: "I love you Mamaw bye". Her voice was so soft and faint from having the tub in her throat, they didn't want her talking much because it was so swollen. I asked my mom if Mamaw knew who was on the phone and Mamaw said "Tiffany". I was so relieved she knew it was me. Little did I know that would be the last time I ever talked to my Mamaw. I went on about my day so happy that things were looking up. I called the hubs in tears telling him I got to talk to Mamaw and he was so happy for me. Friday came and went everything was the same, they were running tests and monitoring her. Saturday I received a text message from my mom saying that they moved Mamaw down to the heart floor to monitor her there. She was out of ICU so that had to be a good thing right?!?!? Saturday I ran my race, though of her the whole time. Sunday we had company in town so we spend the day with them. Sunday night after they left I was cooking dinner when I got a call from my brother at 5:15pm. He had just spoke with our younger cousin who had told him that Mamaw had stopped breathing again and she was back on the breathing machine. I immediately called my mom to find out what happened. 5:22pm mom told me she was back on the breathing machine, she had stopped breathing again and they had to do CPR for about a minute to bring her back to. They were not sure what caused it but they were running tests to see what was going on. She told me as soon as she knew something she would call me back and let me know. 7:11pm I received worst phone call of my entire life. My mom called to tell me that my Mamaw had just passed away. I'll never ever in my life for get that moment. I some how was as calm as could be and asked her again as I was standing in the kitchen of our home "do what?" She began to explain to me what happen and before she got to far into it she passed the one to her cousin Gayla to tell me. I made my way up the stairs of our house were my husband was, I remember what my cousin said but I was in such a state of shock I didn't hear what she said. She passed the phone back to my mom and I immediately hung up and fell to the floor. The hubbs came out of the office and asked what happened. I couldn't breath I was crying so hard it hurt in my chest I wanted some one to pinch me and wake me up from this horrible nightmare. I laid their on the stairs of our house crying my eyes out gasping for breath. Mad at the World, Mad at God, Mad at the Doctors, Mad at the Army, Mad at Myself. There in that moment was the worst my husband had ever seen me. I simply could not compose myself, I didn't know how to function. I didn't know how life would go on. My husband stood there and rubbed my back he had no words, I cried and cried and cried. I replayed every memory over in my head. She was there for so much of my life... 27 years of it but I wanted more. I was / am selfish, she wasn't suffering any more, she wasn't in any more pain but I wanted more. I wanted another year, month, week, day, hour…JUST ONE MORE. Please God I asked WHY? Once I was able to gather myself some I looked up at the hubbs and said "she just wanted me to have kids, that's it. She'll never get to meet my kids they will never know the wonderful woman that she is" She was already a great-grandma to so many but not my child / children. He reminded me that she had been there for so much of my life and seen me through the past 27 years. He was right but for me it just was not enough, I still wanted more.

From that moment my life was for ever changed…………. to be continued…..

Runners will Run

My heart simply aches for those affected by the horrible tragedy that happened yesterday in Boston. We will never comprehend why people do the things they do. What they intend to get out of it and how it makes them feel any better. Yet we are left with broken hearts, incomplete families and a shaken community. As a avid runner myself I know the feeling you get from running competitively, running races and running just to run. It's my time to get out clear my head, reminisce on my day and life in general, its my ME TIME, its my Therapy. To have that completely taken away would be just devastating. I wont let this affect me were I live in fear and shelter myself from the world. However I only plan on embracing life even more. You NEVER know what is going to happen next, what's around the corner or just up the street from you. Whom ever did this trying to break us down was sadly mistaken........This is not only going to bring the running community together more but the entire United States. I'm deeply saddened for the ones who lost loved ones and were injured during what is suppose to be one of the greatest moments of their life. Running the Boston Marathon is such a honor and gift to those who do so, it will have even more meaning in the years to come. My thoughts and prayers continue to go out to each and every person involved and effected by yesterday's events. If your a runner I encourage you to get out there and run for those who can't. Run for those who weren't able to finish the Boston Marathon. And if your not a runner well there's always a time to start!!! No time like the present right :)

PRAY FOR BOSTON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I got my run in for the evening did you??? I'll be running my race this weekend in memory of Boston!!!!

5 Year Pictures Finally!

Now that I've gotten our Christmas Cards Mailed out and for the most part everyone has received them I can finally share our 5 Year Anniversary Pictures. Every year I twist the hubbies arm to have pictures made. But it works out because we do them Early - Mid November for our Anniversary then we can use them for our Christmas card as well. I'm Loving our pictures this year, Hubby did a fabulous job. Normally he doesn't really smile much at all, its like twisting his arm again to get a good picture. But really what Army man smiles in pictures, not this one. However this year he totally blew me away. I loved him more in the pictures then I did myself. I had a awful smile in some of them. I thought I'd share with you some of our favorites out of the ones we got back to review. Hope you enjoy. I still can't believe sometimes we've been married for 5 years. It's crazy, I don't know were the time has gone.

We were lucky enough to be able to use the same photographer this year that we did last year. However we aren't going to be as lucky next year. :( Jawnie recently PCSed Ft. Carson Colorado. So if you in the area and looking for an AMAZING photographer I HIGHLY recommend her. She's simply fabulous. Check out her FB page HERE!!!!!

Blake Shelton & Friends Cruise Day 7

Our last day at port / sea we had breakfast while waiting for the rain to pass before we got off the ship. Just as we were finishing up Neal and his family came and sat down for breakfast at the table right beside us.
We posed for a picture and he did a little photobombing.
Funny story before we took the picture we were talking about asking him to photobomb our picture. Once we finally braved up the guts to ask him, he had no clue what it mint. Neither did his son-in-law that was sitting with him. So we explained what it was and he was happy to play along. It was pretty funny, we all got a good laugh out of it. He's a really nice guy, and from Texas you can't go wrong there .
Looking out over the Bahamas from the ship, the rain had finally cleared up so we headed in to town.
After the rain let up we ventured off the ship and into the city. No real game plan, other than a stop by Senor Frogs because the Spouse had never been before. As we walk through the side walk we over hear a local guy talking about city bus tours. He called himself "Show Time" or "The King" we stopped to hear him out and see what he had to offer. He was wearing this crazy hat and seemed really energetic. After much discussion and going back and forth on what we were going to do we decided to take him up on it. After all it was only $25 and we'd probably see more this way vs. just walking around. He told us to hang tight while he went and got his van. Shortly after he returned with music blaring, out he came blowing through a sea shell calling for "THE ROYAL FAMILY". We all looked at each other and laughed, what the heck have we got ourselves into. We loaded up along with another family (who had taken his tour in the years past) and were on our way. He drove us all through the town and showed us the most happening spots. It was crazy how many people were fishing and had set up stands to sell their daily catch. The economy was very sad, beautiful in places but very poor in others. We stopped off at a local beach to take a few pictures and look around. Not some were I'd be rushing to go back to, but at least I can say I've been there.

Our little group with "Mr. Show Time" on our lovely random bus tour around Nassau.
After the beach stop we made our way through some residential areas. We stopped at a local gas station that sold beers 3 for $5, which apparently is a really good deal for them. Nancy and Steve got something to drink. I myself am not a beer person, a few sips of Nanc's Smirnoff was all I could take. She was going old school.

We went to a local food truck were Mr. Show Time got out of the van and told us all to hang tight. We were a little nervous about what he was doing. Not sure if he was taking himself a lunch break of what. When all of a sudden he came back with food in hand. I am not one to try new food, I'm not adventurous at all and I don't eat sea food. I couldn't not try it though he was so nice to stop and do that for us and he seemed really excited about it as well. I don't know that we ever got a name out of him on what they were. It seemed like some form of a hush puppies inside was mini shrimp. I picked around the shrimp and ate some of the breading. It was ok, not great but at least I tried it. Back on the road but not for long we stopped off at another place. Once again he told us to wait here and he'd be back. He returned with a tray full of drinks which he passed out along with a bottle of Gold Rum. He poured a decent amount in every ones cup, had to share the goodness. Golly, the mixed frozen like drink tasted good before the alcohol. I wasn't quite ready to start drinking yet, guess I didn't have much of a choice. After mixing it up really well you couldn't taste the alcohol at all, this could either be a good thing or a bad thing if you had a few of them.
We finally made our way to Senor Frogs. The minute we stepped out of the van we were bombared by locals selling us bracelts for a donation. It was quite the sight, so comical. I think it was Sarah who made the comment on how we got robbed. We really had not choice but to say yes and buy one or two. I mean they had already slipped them on our wrist without us being able to object at all.

Once inside it was quite the show, with four ships in port it was packed with loads of crazy people. It would have made for some great people watching hands down. Sarah was a super sport and did a jello shot or two. We all enjoyed a drink in their giant "yard" cups before heading back to the ship. Talk about a major brain freeze trying to finish it off before boarding. At least S can finally say she's experienced Senor Frogs. It was more of a mellow one compared to once I've been to in the past.
There was three other ships along with ours in port. Ours was on the very end, left side of the picture.
This guitar along with one other one was signed by all of the different artist aboard the ship and auctioned off at the end of the week. All of the money raised went to two different charities. The one that I remember was the "Wounded Warrior" foundation. :)
Going out with a bang on our last night was Trace Adkins.
To me he didn't seem very personal, just first impressions though. He does have a really good voice and put on a good show. I knew he was really tall but didn't realize how big his arm muscles were. Not to mention his pants, seriously I don't know that they could have been any tighter. I over heard a few comments about how some people though he might get them custom made. Who knows.....

After dinner we headed to the Spinniker lounge to hear "Her & Kings County" play. We'd met several of the band members through out the week and hadn't had a chance to hear them play yet because we always had something else going on during their show.
Shot's to top off a fabulous week with two great girls and the new friends we made. It was by far the best cruise I've been on. I don't know that I'll ever be able to go on a regular cruise again. I mean it just wont be the same.
Group picture with "Her & Kings County" after their show!!! I'd say they were more on the rock / country rock vs. straight country. Still not to bad of a group, they're coming to the South soon so I think I might try and go see them.
We ended the evening in the atrium listening to some of the different bands and artist. They were having a jam session, were they all got together and snag different songs and sang together.

It was a great week. I couldn't of picked two better people to go on this trip with and all the thanks goes to the Mistress aka Nancy for suggesting it last September. She comes up with the craziest idea and this one by far was a good one. I can't wait to do it again next year. I was so sad to see it come to a end. Having to part from the girls as we went our different ways and say our "see you soon's". I was so excited to get back home though and see my love. Being away from him for so long this time had been tough, it had definelty taken a toll on me.

Best girls trip for sure!!!! Love you Spouse & Mistress!!!!!!!
