My Valentines Day / Girls Night

Yesterday (Friday) at work was horrible, down right no good. So bad I wanted to throw the towel in and quick everything. If I'm being honest the hubbs told me to go for it and just to focus on school but I can't do that. I'm going to have bad days we all are right!! But we've got to kick up our feet, pour a drink and move on. And that's just what I did. Friday night I came home fixed myself dinner and poured myself fruity little cocktail and enjoyed the evening on the couch. 

This Morning I woke up at 6:45 in the morning, I forced myself to go back to sleep. There was absolutely no good reason for me to be up that early. Saturday's have become my only days to really sleep in because I go to church so early on Sundays. So back to sleep I went not waking up again till 9am. I was in heaven. The dogs didn't even budge a bit and just laid there with me. Just shortly after I got up the hubbs got on line and we were about to chat for a good part of the morning. All while I deep cleaned the house, vacuumed every room, dusted, started and finished laundry, cleaned out the car, did some touch up painting on our coffee table. Pulled out some things from a box I'd packed away months ago and even had myself a little breakfast. I felt so productive and good about myself, it was a new day and I was making the most of it. After the hubbs called it a night and went to bed I got my work out in and took the pups on a 40 minute walk around out neighborhood. It wasn't warm by any means out but it was totally bearable and the fresh air was good for me. When I came back home I continued with my "Me Valentines Day" which included a mud mask and a nice steamy hot bath, that may or may not of lasted over a hour. Its very very rare that I take time for myself and put everything else aside and so today was much needed and welcomed. 

I need to remember to do this morning often. 

Later that afternoon I got ready and headed out to dinner and a movie with some of the girls from work. Girls night are something I look forward to, of course who doesn't. I'm slowly coming into my grove here in TN with making a good group of friends and going out. 

We met up at Chili's for dinner and over do Margarita's, let's just say they were fabulous!!! And we'll be going back again sooner rather than later!!!

My friend Nisha had already seen American Sniper but Brit and I hadn't yet. I was in the middle of ready the book when she went and I wanted to finish it first, which I did last weekend so we made plans to go see it. It was definitely a good movie. I'm glad I had read the book before hand. It answered a lot of questions I would have had, as well as filled in a lot of empty spots that they did not put in the movie for one reason or another. "After all its hard to put someones whole life story into a 2 hour movie" as Taya, Chris Kyle's wife said in the book. So many people asked and made comments about me going to see it while the hubbs was deployed. Making sure I could handle it. It didn't even cross my mind at all, he's in a different place right now, fighting a different war. Him and Chris Kyle were in Iraq at the same time in the same city back in 2007-2008 which I happened to think was kinda ironic. I was ready for the tears and panic attacks to happen through out the movie but they never came. Not to say my heart wasn't racing the entire time because it was. The part I got choked up at the most was the end after the movie when they did a tribute to Chris Kyle. It's definitely a must see if you haven't.

Seriously I love these!!! I've never owned a pair of converse before and when I found these on instagram I knew I had to have them!!! After waiting almost two months for them, a mix up in the mailing I finally got them last night, the day before Valentines day. So of course I had to wear them out. Even if it was 3 degrees out and boots would have made so much more sense. I had a great night with the girls from work and can't wait to do it again!!! They definitely made this Valentines Day great considering the circumstances with the hubbs away. 

Happy Valentines Day, By the way we're MOVING!!!!

We agreed we weren't doing anything for Valentines Day because we were going to be traveling on the  actual day. Well let me tell you I should have known the hubbs wasn't going to stick to our plan. He got off CQ Friday morning and came home, came up stairs as I was still in bed and had the day off due to a snow / ice day. He told me good morning, wished me Happy V-day and said he had to run back to work and would be right back. Not thinking anything of it, I decided to get up and start getting ready for the day. I went down stairs and that sneaky man had picked up flowers, cupcakes a balloon and a card wish all was set on the kitchen counter. He completely melts my heart, I can't take it!!! 

Now this girl stuck to the plan and did absolutely NOTHING for V-day for the hubbs. I felt like a complete failure, but we did have a agreement. I had a few things to do while the hubbs took a nap so I figured I'd stop off at the PX and pick him up some of his favorite sweet treats. Made for great road trip snacks. 

While I was out I picked up our special order of Valentines day cookies "conversation hearts" we ordered from our favorite local bakery. Ally & Eloise makes the best cookies in the South hands down!!! 

Mid afternoon we loaded up the truck and said goodbye to the puppies and headed out on the road to our new future home state. That's right we are MOVING in just a matter of months. Literally 2.5 months. We're headed to the Music Capital State, Tennessee. We will be just 45 minutes north of Nashville and I can't wait. We've got some good friends that live in Clarksville (were we're moving) and I have a cousin that lives in Nashville, not to mention I have a few friends that live there as well. So unlike when we moved to the South we will actually know people. Some of which we were stationed with in Hawaii and consider family. 

Its about a 7ish hour drive from the South to our New Home State were we are going to be living. Almost to the Kentucky boarder but not quite. We planned out the weekend to go up there to check out the area and look at house's. We knew we wouldn't actually probably settle or pick a house while we were there but at least we could settle on a area. One step at a time right. We actually have the option to live in either Tennessee or Kentucky seeings that the post sits on the state line of both. Half in TN and half in KY. I was pro TN but the hubbs was hellbent on the KY side. 

We arrived late Friday night and spent Saturday out driving around checking out the area with our friends R & C who we know from Hawaii and were staying with. They took us all over the local area showing us the good, bad and ugly. Even on to post, for a quick tour. Although I have a feeling we are going to need a good couple days to fully see the post because its HUGE!!!! This will be our first experience living OFF post and I'm a wee bit nervous but excited about the opportunities that lie ahead of us. Saturday night R & C had a sitter come over and we went out on a double date night down in Nashville. I seriously love how quick it is to get there, we got in the car, hoped on the highway and next thing you know we were there. After checking out a couple restaurants we settled on Hard Rock Cafe. They had a wait of about half a hour which was much more appealing then the 2+ hour wait every were else. We enjoyed some yummy food, even better fruity drinks (the guys got beer) and fabulous conversations. It felt so great to be back together with them again. It was so perfect, nothing like what we have here in the South. I swear there's something about the people you meet at your first duty station. They are with you forever and nothing will ever compare. It was a great night and I can't wait to do it again. Luckily we'll have a good few years to enjoy many date nights with them. 

Sunday the hubbs and I headed out for the day to look at some houses with our newly found realtor Jeremy. We were introduced to him by R & C, they are currently using him and had nothing but good things to say. We had so much fun looking at house's driving around seeing more of the area. Its absolutely beautiful here and I have a feeling we are going to LOVE it here. Its such a country area and I can't wait to soak it all up. I grew up in the city and have always been very much a city girl. Well up until here the last couple years. I never pictured myself living in the country but I can't wait till we get our forever home. Country living all the way!!! But that's a story for another day. 

We saw several homes and various area's, there's so many options when you live off post. So much to take into consideration and to think about. Pro's and Con's of both and the various area's.  

That evening we headed back to the house and we all decided to go out for dinner. Mexican was the choice of R and well we never turn down Mexican food. I seriously think we could live off of it. Talk about some good chips and salsa. Good to know we've already found one good Mexican place here. After dinner we walked a couple doors down for Frozen Yogurt at Berry Bear. I've developed a slight addiction to frozen yogurt with yummy sweets inside. It's a weakness. 

Monday I went with R to take sweet Savvy girl to school. It was so sad to have to say bye to here but thankfully we'll be seeing her much sooner than later. The hubbs and I went out early to look at a few other homes before meeting back up with R & C to look at a home a friend of theirs has listed. We knew we had to get on the road soon because not only did I have to go back to work the next day but we would also be loosing a hour crossing over the state line. 

It was most defiantly a wonderful little getaway. No set plans, just a go with the flow and take the punches as they came kinda trip. We enjoyed it and can't wait to see what else lies ahead of us in the up coming months getting ready for our move. We obviously didn't settle on a house while we were there or a area but I did fall in love with one house. I guess time will tell what we end up doing. 

A stop for lunch before getting to far into our drive back home was much needed. One thing I did come to terms with about TN is they def. don't know good sweet tea. They simply need to add a bit more sugar and I think it will be just right. lol

Happy Love Day!!!

I hadn't planned anything big for Valentines Day or really put much though into it. I'm not a big V-day fan, if we celebrate we do if we don't we don't. No big deal. We normally do a dinner or something simple but nothing to big. I'm big on celebrating our birthdays or anniversary personally.

But this past Monday when I was texting with the hubbs at some point or another he mentioned us doing something for Valentines day and that he was out gift shopping. "Ummmmm what really we are exchanging gifts??" Was my exact reply back to him. I hadn't even though about anything to get him, I picked him up a card and was going to make dinner and call it a night. He said of course we are going to do something. He suggested going out to dinner Friday vs. Thursday though to avoid the crazy crowds. Hello crunch time, when was I going to be able to get away from him for a quick shopping trip. He was off work all week, I always go home on my lunch when he's off. How do I get around this.....Tuesday I run, Wednesday I have gym class and Thursday is Valentines Day. Thursday was the only day this week he had to go into work. (of course) 

I ran to the PX after my gym class Wednesday night to pick up his gift. (Thank goodness they still had one left) Although he almost went gift-less. Wednesday on post = family day, SIT can NOT leave post meaning everyone and their mother, father, brother, sister and grandma end up going to the PX. 7pm after a long day at work, gym class which totally sucked and a hungry girl was not a good combination  but I sucked it up and managed. 

Thursday I ran all around town on my lunch to get last minute things. Literally from midtown to downtown to post to work. First up was dinner, Whole Foods was a epic fail they didn't have what I was wanting (Hubs likes their freshly made Enchiladas). So plan B (same dinner as last year) went in to place Pizza Joint. From WF I went to Cupcake in the Vista to pick up Dessert. I should have known it was going to be busy I mean hello its V-day. A quick trip turned in to 30 minutes long to get 4 cupcakes. I rushed back to post to pick up a order of Tamales I had placed last month. (today was delivery / pick up day) Then back to work by 2:30 for my last 2 & half hours of the day. Thankfully I took the hubs gift with me to work to wrap bc I sure as heck didn't have time to do it earlier in the day. 5 O'Clock came shortly later and it was quiting time, thank the laurrrd. It had been a long day and I was ready to get home. But not yet, I had to first order the pizza and wait 20 minutes for it to cook them pick it up. Although its totally worth the wait because they have the best pizza ever, drive through Chick-Fil-a sounded pretty good. (simply bc I wanted to get home.) With everything that had set me back today or not gone as planned I got some good loven at PJ when I went to pay for my order. The guy behind the bar asked if I was Military umm Yes why do you give a Military discount??? "Yea we do 20%" HELLO were the heck have you been for the last year that we have been coming here. How did I not know this?!?!?! This dude earned his tip plus some tonight. Thank You!!!!!! 

I finally made it home after sitting in traffic for what seemed like forever only 5 miles from post. My love was waiting on me with open arms, I sure do love him!!!! He was so excited for me to open my gift from him, I could barley set my bags down. We agreed to go small, something simple.....did we stick to it........NO, of course not. 

He got me a Nike Fuel Band which I'd mentioned a week or so ago that I'd wanted for working out and daily use. I have a Nike GPS watch for running but it doesn't track anything else were as the Fuel Band will and I can sync it to my computer as well. Unfortunately he couldn't find it any were in stores so he had to order it on line, so it should be in the mail soon. He also got me this spatula from the PX that I though was so cute!! 

The hubs is all about his guns, accessories and reloading and all that fun stuff that goes along with it. So here lately its been a little easier to shop for him because I'm able to get him things to go along with what he's doing. There's this light (flash light) that he's been eyeing for a while now for one of his Glocks, he just hasn't bit the bullet and gotten it. We saw it at the PX a week ago for a little less than Shooter Choice and double bonus no tax. It was perfect and I knew he'd love it and my search was over. Wednesday night when I went they had one left, talk about cutting it close. I also picked him up some peeps, he loves those things.......I hate them. 

We ended the evening eating pizza on the couch while watching Grey's Anatomy and enjoying our cupcakes. It was still simple and perfect I couldn't have asked for a better Valentine He's just perfect for me. We're so blessed to be able to celebrate our love together every day not just one day out of the year.

Happy LOVE Day

As you know the Hubbs & I celebrated Valentines Day this past weekend, however that didn't stop me from making today a little extra special. I'm just so in love with him and I always go the extra mile to show him that. 
I picked up his favorite donuts from Dunkin Donuts the night before on my way home from work. I laid them out before we went up to bed last night with his card on top. My original though was to get up in this morning when he does and go get breakfast but that would have been at 3am. Needless to say I knew that wouldn't end up happening when it came time. 

This morning I got the sweetest kiss followed by a Happy Valentines Day & a thank you for the donuts from my love as he headed out the door to school. I could tell in his voice how much he enjoyed waking up to a nice little sweet treat for breakfast. 
A few hours later I was up and heading out the door myself for work. I got in my car and low and behold there was a note on a sticky pad on the steering wheel of my car. My heart immediately dropped before I even started reading it. I had no clue, he was so sneaky (although I was asleep lol). I was already running a couple minutes behind my normal time on when I like to leave by but I took a extra couple minutes to sit there and read his note. It was simply PERFECT, Vday card nope, flowers nope, jewelry nope, chocolate nope, I got a note on a sticky pad stuck to the steering wheel of my car which left me in tears. No amount of money can buy those words written on there. 

We've never been a couple to make a big over the top deal about Vday, but we do celebrate in our own little way. Our Birthdays & Wedding Anniversary is so much more important to me, I'll go over the top crazy for those special days for sure. 


Work was super crazy busy today, we had vday parties galore and the kids were loaded up on sugar all day long. It rained a bit this afternoon just enough to get everything wet were my kids couldn't go outside BUMMER!!!!!!! The parents were way to kind to us again with loads of sweet yummy treats and candies. A super cute mug filled with Chocolate kisses and homemade cookies. Goodness me oh my what am I to do with it all. 

After spin class this evening, (yes I still went to spin, the hubbs was at work & not like we were going out) I went to the Class Six and picked up a bottle of bubbly aka Wine. From there I headed to the Pizza Joint to get dinner for the two of us. It was the prefect combination and best part I didn't feel guilty about eating pizza because I just worked my butt off at spin class. 

We've been spending the rest of the evening relaxing on the couch sipping on a glass of wine together. It was a lovely Valentines Day spent with the most amazing man in my life. We are so blessed to have the love that we do, its so strong, deep and true. He's not only my Valentine today but each and every day!!!!!!!!

I've always said its not about what you get, the amount of money you spend on a gift or even the meal you have but its the love you share with that special someone you hold so close and dear to your heart. 


I really couldn't ask for anything more today, I have everything I need right here in my heart and by my side!!!!!!!!!

Happy Valentines Day!!!!

With the Hubbs super crazy hours right now we decided we would celebrate Valentines Day today. I was totally fine with this because that mint a whole day worth of celebrating not just a dinner out some were Tuesday night. (because lets face it after we both get off work, home from the gym that's what it would have consisted of.)
Friday one of my coworkers mentioned this really neat General Store that I just had to check out. Just right downtown about 15 minutes from post, we decided to make that our first stop in todays adventure. When we first walked in I was a little thrown off because we were greeted with clothes, not what I was expecting. The further in we went making our way to the back of the store is when my frown turned upside down. It was the neatest store ever loads of kitchen knick knacks, some indoor & outdoor decor, jams, jellies, hot sauces, cookbooks, pottery, pet goodies, cookware, CANDY and so much more.

I would have loved to see the expression on my face when I walked into the candy department. With two many barrels to count overflowing with all different kinds of candy. There is something for everyone young and old. I probably walked the aisles of the candy section about 5 times, each time finding different candies that I didn't see before. I was literally a kid in a candy store again, I kept calling the Hubbs over showing him the different candies I found that I hadn't seen in forever. 

I came across these Coconut Slices they are my Papa's favorite candy. When we would drive to Houston to see him there was only one gas station that sold them. We always made sure to stop and buy the store out when they had them in stock. He loved us even more on those trips we came baring his candy. I quickly snagged a handful for him along with some of my moms favorite candy that they had. Some of the rare finds she likes are Big Hunks, Cherry Mash and Maple Nut bites. A single pound of candy is $5.99 doesn't seem like a lot so I decided to pick up a few of my favorites as well. They have these cute little candy boxes to put the candy in, which I got to send home to my mom with her goodies inside.

Of course I couldn't leave the kitchen section empty handed, that would be just wrong. They had some Fiestaware which all of it I already had minus a super snazzy tumbled lid for the tumbles I picked up in Texas. Not I can take my tea with me when we leave the house with out having to switch cups as I'm walking out the door. I can just pop on the matching lid. I also got a scoop for our sugar canister that was full of colors matching my Fiesta collection just perfect. I'm such a sucker for new & fun kitchen gadgets, I enjoy clothes & accessories shopping but if I had to pick I think I think kitchen shopping is my favorite.

One other piece I picked up that I had to have the minute I laid my eyes on was this cute "Welcome" Gnome. I though it would make the perfect addition to our front entry way and I was right. I don't know what it is about these little guys but I love them, this makes our 2nd one. The Spouse HaTeS them, I can't wait for her to come visit again & see this guy in person.
I was grinning ear to ear while we were in Mast General store, its two floors of pure goodness. I told the hubbs I don't know that I have been this happy since we moved here. He agreed and was just as into everything they had to offer as I was. I know we didn't cover half the store there was just so much to look at & see but we parked at a meter~less parking spot. (it was suppose to have a meter at it but didn't) We didn't want the Chally to get a boot put on it or towed for that matter, not to mention it was well after 1pm be time we felt and we were both hungry. We made our way to a ghetto little Mexican joint that we both really like, munching down on some chips & salsa, I was almost full before we got our main dish. That didn't stop us from ordering a Sopapilla, we were celebrating so of course we had to go all out. I was sadly disappointed though, when I think of sopapilla I think of a warm puffy dough like pastry drowned drizzled in honey. Not some flat, disk crunchy thing we got drizzled in chocolate. It was good and we didn't leave a drop on the plate but I was a tiny bit disappointed.

After lunch we continued our Valentines Day celebration by seeing "The Vow". I was so excited it just came out the night before and I couldn't wait to see it. Talk about perfect timing a super romantic movie right before Valentines Day. It was a fabulous movie and I'd go see it again in a heart beat. I will defiantly be purchasing this one when it comes out on DVD. I will admit at times I wanted to throw a brick at Paige's head because she was being so mean to her husband Leo but in a way she couldn't help it. I some how managed to hold back the tears but boy was it hard. Holding onto my loves hand through out the entire movie thinking of how lucky I am to have such an amazing man to live my life with. It definitely makes you live in the moment and not take life so serious. We aren't promised tomorrow nor the next hour for that matter. We always try to make the most of our time together when ever we can and this movie just reminded me to continue doing just that and MORE. The kinda love we have isn't just something that happened over night. Its built on years of joy and happiness that I wouldn't trade for anything.  

It's been a perfect Valentines Day I couldn't have asked for anything better. We did a little shopping, lunch and a movie. We didn't make a big deal of it but made sure we made time to celebrate our love for each other. Out of the 5 & an half years we've been together this is only the 2nd Valentines Day we have been home together to be able to enjoy it.

~DAY 121~

Happy Valentines Day

Finally after what seemed like 20 years we are getting to celebrate our FIRST Valentines Day together. Now, yes we have been together but not physically together in the same place. I'm not one to make a big deal about Valentines Day, to me there are other Holidays that mean more to us than today. Although that doesn't mean we aren't celebrating because we sure are. I remember talking to Gabe mid-January about what I wanted to do. I told him I wanted to keep it simple and just that is what we did.

Starting out with a breakfast, it was one of those were you prepare it the night before and put it in the oven to cook in the morning. This was a first for us, I've had breakfast like this before just never did one myself. I knew I wanted to do something different other than the normal that we do on the weekends to make it special. It turned out pretty good, I was impressed. Gabe put it all together for me last night because I wasn't home and he did a perfect job.



We exchanged gifts, which again was kept very simple. Last year Gabe got back from Iraq just shortly after Valentines Day so we didn't get to celebrate. I had a card and a small stuffed bear waiting for him on his nightstand and I had a matching stuffed bear on mine as well (they both are still there, never been moved). I told him that we should start a tradition for Valentines Day and have a stuffed animal exchange instead of a big gift to kept things simple and easy. With Christmas a couple months prior and both our birthdays 2 months after V~day it just made sense.
So I got him a card of course and a cute green frog holding a heart that said "LOVE YOU" and a box of chocolate :) he love it. He pulled through on our new tradition as well and got me a cute little green frog that sits in a box holding a heart as well. Super Super cute :)!!!!!

I made Valentines cup cakes last night in the middle of cooking dinner to add to the occasion and they turned out so good. Super cute I might add, they were topped with red and white sprinkles and a touch of love.



After lounging around for a bit we loaded up the puppies and made our way to Wheeler AAF. We have found that they really like the dog park there. I was worried that they'd just walk around because there aren't any other dogs there to play with, but they LOVE it. Dingo is so much more active and runs around like crazy. Were at the dog park in Mililani he sticks by our side more than venturing out. They both stay together were ever they go, its so cute to watch they running around.




This afternoon we had a nice relaxing afternoon at home watching "Couples Retreat". I saw it when I was in Texas this past fall but Gabe hadn't because he said it was a chick flip. I'll tell you he was laughing through the whole move.

With dinner plans at Red Lobster we headed downtown around 4pm and enjoyed a nice evening together. (I am not a sea food person at all but I do love Red Lobster) Be time we left I was totally stuffed and couldn't eat another thing. We totally out did ourselves ordering 2 appetizers, salad, dinner & dessert. Boy was it all so good and worth it though. It's not often that we go all out like but it was nice. hee hee





We made our way back to town for a late night movie. "Valentines Day" Super cute movie, I loved it and can't wait for it to come out on DVD now. It was crazy seeing so many top celebrities in the same movie, they definitely pulled it off well. (It's a must see in my opinion) The ending got me a little teary eyed when the mom came home to her son.



The day couldn't of been more perfect, I was with the Love of My Life and just smitten :) He always knows how to put a smile on my face and make the day just amazing. I couldn't of thought of a better way to spend our first Valentines Day together. The simple things in life are what matter most to me.



I LOVE YOU BOO, MORE TODAY THAN YESTERDAY AND MORE TOMORROW THAN TODAY. LIFE WITH YOU JUST MAKES PERFECT SENSE.

Our weekend pre~view & next

The weekend started right around noon today, I was so happy to get off early and get home to my love. He as well got off at noon today. It was a great day at the Gabriel house :) We managed to get the house clean and the yard done, the laundry caught up (I hate doing laundry, its so time consuming) and a bite for lunch. 2:45 rolled around and I headed out the door to go babysit. Thankfully I was just going right down the street from our house so it wasn't to far at all for when it was time for me to go home. The couple I'm sitting for headed downtown to Waikiki & aren't set to be back till well after midnight. Thank heavens for sweet little angels, the girls are adorable and so precious. I had told Gabe since I wasn't going to be home for dinner he could indulge in his favorite "Little Ceasers Pizza". Don't get me wrong I like pizza but not all the time & I think he could have it a couple times a week if I let him. One of his buddies ended up calling him to see if he'd go with him to help him buy a new car, (right up Gabe's alley) so it work out well for the both of us tonight.


Saturday we have plans to take the pups to the dog park in the morning then we have a early lunch date and trip to Target planned. I can't wait I love going to Target, I hate that it's so far away. It's not even that far away but compared to were it was when I was living in Texas it's far. I have plans to babysit again that afternoon (hints the early lunch date) in Kapolei @ 1pm until about 10:00pm. So it will be another late night out.


Sunday morning we are going on our hike up Manoa with our friends Crystal & her family. I have been looking forward to it for a couple weeks now :) and can't wait. We plan to go early enough so we are back to watch the Super Bowl if our heart choose to. We have no real desire to watch it and could careless who wins or loses so it will probably just another Sunday relaxing for us @ home. I am hoping to go see "Dear John" Sunday night but we will see.


Next weekend I already have plans to babysit both Friday night @ 6pm and then again Saturday @ 8pm. Both nights will be super easy, seeings Friday its just for a couple hours and then Saturday the girls will already be asleep before I even get there. You can't beat that. Sunday we have plans to celebrate our very FIRST Valentines day together & I CAN'T wait. I am so excited, we have been together for 3 years now and this is the first time we are in the same place on Valentines Day.
Monday we both have off work as well :) and so we are going to continue our Valentines Celebration, I am like a kid in a candy store and can't wait. I'm so excited & even think I might go out and buy myself a new outfit for our date on Sunday.
