Life Happens....you've been warned...

....random update of life lately, it's kinda all over the place but wanted / needed to recap.

Well....its been a bit uneventful but a bit over whelming here lately. Parts of me doesn't mind it but then other parts of me wonders how I've managed to take on so much. When in reality its not all that much at all. With work Monday-Friday and Classes 3 nights a week, my days are pretty full. When I don't have class in the evenings I generally stay late and close at work. I like having the option to stay and close if needed vs. being completely depended on. It makes for some really long day's either way I go but it beats sitting at home alone. Some nights when I don't have class or have to close I tend to find myself hanging out and chatting a bit longer at work. I don't always feel the need to rush home, I mean the pups are there but the nights are the hardest with the hubbs away and it makes for lonely evenings. In the mornings I get up work out and take the pups for their walk before going to work. Two reason: One-when I get off its already dark out so not really ideal for walking the pups. Darn you winter time change. Two-working out before work means if I wanna come home and be lazy I can. Most nights when I cook dinner I cook enough for me to have left overs for 2 maybe 3 nights. This helps my commissary budget, as well as keeps me from having to cook every night. I don't mind cooking at all, I actually love cooking. But the last thing I want to do when I get home from class at close to 9pm is to cook dinner and do dishes. So left overs are perfect for me right now. On the weekends I might cook myself a more time consuming / involved meal because I can take my time with it.
If I typically have any running around to do or shopping I try to get it all done on Saturday mornings - mid afternoon after walking the pups. This way I have the rest of Saturday to work on my homework because lets face it these two classes have me swamped. I've been out of school for a hot minute now and trying to get back into the swing of things with classes and homework has had its challenges. I've started reading more for pleasure but this whole reading and having to write a paper on it is a totally different thing. It also give me time to do any hously duties I might need to do clean the house, straighten up. The dreaded laundry, its so easy to throw it in the wash, then dryer but I hate hate folding and putting it away. Sunday's I go to church, the early service which is at 8:30 and I'm usually home by 9:45, unless I go to Sunday School. After our morning walk around the neighborhood I'm back in my comfy clothes for the day, vegging out on the couch watching Netflix and Hulu. I'll try and make myself productive here and there but normally I have a completely lazy day. I haven't gone out and really done much lately other than a few random outings here and there. It's been crazy cold and then we will have days in the 50's, it almost reminds me so much of Texas weather. It's been quite a bit rainy here lately as well, I never knew it rained so much in TN. I'm so ready for it to warm up more. I absolutely hate hate the cold weather, that's what 3 years of living in Hawaii will do to you.
I've slowly been knocking my To Do List down, little by little. Reminding myself everything doesn't have to be done at one time. But oh how I desperately wish it could be. I did finally get our taxes done this morning so that's taken care of. My homework assignments for this coming week are complete and just need to be typed. I'm headed to Nashville tomorrow for a birthday party for one of my kiddos and I'm planning on making a day out of it. Heading downtown right after church in the morning!! Life's been busy and chaotic but I wouldn't have it any other way. At least I'm making the most of my time through this deployment

Better than sulking and eating ice cream from the carton every night.
I mean a bowl is so much more classy!!! Right!?!?!?

And because a post isn't complete with out a picture.....
I slipped on my boots and took the hubbs Glock and HK out for a little swirl last weekend to this lovely setting......
I may or may not share what went on that afternoon. I still haven't decided!!!

Baby it's HOT outside....

Hot or Cold, Rain or Shine I've got my booty out there on the streets hitting the pavement almost every other day. I've got exactly 5 months before my first full marathon (that I still haven't signed up for, don't worry I will get there lol) I've been working on my time a lot here lately. Doing a Full Marathon has given me a lot of motivation to kick my butt in high speed and push myself even more than I ever have.
I absolutely LOVE running there's not denying that but running in the horrible heat we are having right now is killer. I'm doing my best to push through it no matter what. I'm sure here soon I'm going to have to wait and go later in the evening's or even worse get up super early before work and go running. YIKES!!!!! For now though I will muster through the heat and Keep Calm and Keep On.
This evening while doing some catching up on line and sorting through pictures I happen to glance down at my computer screen and see this lovely advertisement below. Is this a sign that I need to get my butt in gear and sign up already or what. The date is the only thing holding me back, I know I'll do it I just need to gather and pull myself together on what else is taking place on that day.
This evening I did a little speed training, went for a bit of a shorter distance but picked up my pace quite a bit and felt great about it. I just need to work on keep that pace during longer distances. One step at a time though. I didn't get were I am over night so I certainly wont do that with this either. But in due time I'll be there!!!

Puppy Park on Mother's Day

I may not be a momma to any two legged babies but I a momma to two four legged fur babies. They warm my heart and always seem to make me smile. Sure they annoy the nonsense out of my sometimes but I wouldn't change them for the world. We've been through so much together in the past 4 years. It's just been the 3 of us over the last month and we've had some extra bonding time. We've gone on lots of walks and runs together like we always do when daddy's home. We've spend a lot of time at the Dog Park (I wont take them in the wooded trail area by myself like we do when the hubbs is home) letting them run some of their energy out. I love that we have a dog park on post and its only half a mile from our house. Not only do they get a good walk in up there but then they can run around free and play. We've been pretty lucky here lately and there really hasn't been anyone there. I say luck because Bailey is kinda crazy with dogs she doesn't know when in a confined area.
I couldn't think of a better way to take advantage of this beautiful day then a trip to the puppy park.
Sweet Bailey Girl taking a break in the shade, its only 9am and its already pretty warm out.
They love playing on the ramp, its so fun to watch them run up and down because they get so excited.
(the below left pic. shows B's double ridgeback hair line so well, I love it)
Bailey hasn't quite figured out the tunnel yet but Dingo just jumps right in.
They love the dog park and we had so much fun running around playing this morning. We spent over a hour there. Now I have two pooped puppies and this momma is relaxing for a bit before I go get some fresh local Strawberries. Yum :) We're officially on count down mode till daddy / hubbs comes home and I can't wait.

Happy Mother's Day to all you Momma's & Momma's to be out there!!!!!

Much needed R&R

While the hubbs met up with a buddy of his to go shooting and to wash the truck I enjoyed the morning relaxing. For what ever reason he though it would be a great idea to drive through a large mud puddle on his way home from work one day last week. The proceeded to complain the rest of the week because the truck was so dirty and he needed to clean it. Hello love, you did that yourself.
I decided it had been way WAY to long since I went and had a little pampering done for myself. I had every intention on going last Sunday because the hubbs was at work, sadly when I got there they were closed. I wasn't missing out this weekend, (I don't like going during the week.) it was just what I needed. It's so sad how busy life is that I forget how relaxing it is just to take a hour out of my day every now and then to do something for myself. I NEED to remember these things. Of course a little bit of sweet tea helps cure everything as well.
Back home that afternoon that hubbs and I got ready for our dinner out. Plans with his whole work company that evening oh the joys of mandatory functions. The weather outside was AMMMAZZZING!!!! 80 degrees in early January, heck ya I'll take that. So I decided to through on a tank top and rock my boots. We did a little window shopping before heading to meet everyone for dinner. That's when the fun ended, well some of the people he works with are to bad but that's really stretching it. The food and service was beyond horrible, to the point were they pretty much didn't care because they knew they were getting their tip since it was such a large party.
We made the most of the evening, and checked out early to headed home. Things like this can be so much more enjoyable if people actually put the effort in to actually making it worth wild. Vs. a last minute, "lets have a dinner this is the only place we can get into and I know its a Saturday night but you still have to come." I really am trying not to rush our time through my head that we have here at Ft. J 14 months and counting because let's face it in the end moving and starting all over again really dose SUCK but dear freaking-A this unit / company we are in is for the birds.
Tomorrow is a new day, the hubbs has off work and we are going to do a whole lot if nada. :)

Summer in January

It's a beautiful day to be outside enjoying the warm weather. To bad I wasn't off work, only on my lunch. Hey I'll take 70 degrees any day during the winter months though. Jealous much?!?! You shouldn't be. Lol, why, because I'll just enjoy it for you. Five day forecast shows the temps in the mid 70's for the remaining week leading into the weekend. I'm sure once we start to hit triple digits again I won't be loving the warmer weather so much. For now though I'll enjoy it.

Most days I go home on my lunch to let the pups out. Today was no different, only thing was they were going for a little ride. Poor pooches had a vet check up today. While we waited out turn to be called we hung out in the back of dads (the hubbs) truck. It was to nice to be stuck in side a waiting room with a bunch of other crazy four legged furry friends. They though they ruled the way then. I just love these two, to pieces!!!
Later that evening after work I took my first Strength class at a local gym here in the South. My running partner K teaches the class and asked me to come check it out. Of course I couldn't turn her down. Let me tell you I could barley move after it. 45 minutes of weights with squats, lunges, push up & sit ups and add in 10 minutes to Tabatas at the end. I'll be lucky if I can run tomorrow let alone walk. I felt so good about myself afterwards, trying something new and pushing through. I'm looking forward to taking it again and trying out some of the other classes they have to offer at Jamie Scott Fitness.
You know just adding in some cross training with the running, got to build up my strength and tone my body.

Springing Forward!!!

Spring is among us, its coming its coming!!!
Day Light Saving time has hit us and we jump ahead a hour late tonight / early morning.
I'm totally looking forward to it being lighter out later. That means after work I can hit the gym and still come home and go for a run with the pups before it gets dark.
I'm not looking forward to the 6 hr time difference vs. 5 hrs from the South to Hawaii.

The trees are starting to bloom and the rose buds are starting to open. The church across the street from were I work has Tulips lined along the stair way and its simply beautiful. I hear this place it absolutely beautiful during the spring / summer time and I can't wait to see it.
However the pollen that is in the air is totally killing my throat. I have come to the conclusion that its the reason behind my horrible cough. I'm hoping it doesn't last to much longer because its making me miserable.

The weather has been warm with a slight breeze to cool things off so its not super hot. I'm looking forward to it warming up more but the stories I've been hearing about the 100+ degree temperature is heart wrenching. Gosh why can't every place be like Hawaii 85 degrees and a chance of rain every day, sounds pretty good right. :)
My plan is to spend as much time outside as possible, and soak up the beautiful sun shine.
Don't worry I'll be sure to capture loads of pictures in the near future.

Spring is in the air, I "think"

Its been such a beautiful day here in the South. I was out running some errands on my lunch today and ended up taking off my cardigan because I was getting hot. I snapped a picture to send to the hubbs as a little surprise when he got off work. :) Lets just say he loved it and I got lots of loven for it when he got home. (kisses ya'll come on, tryin to keep it PG here)

I am seriously craving warmer weather and brighter days!!! I miss the sun, I miss the heat and I miss being able to wear dresses. Everyone says that once summer gets here and the horrid hot temperatures arrive that I'll hate it but I'd much rather be able to take layers off vs pile more on.
My favorite part about warmer weather, spring and summer is being outside!!!!
Yall see that sun roof open above me, yuppers I love love having a sunroof. I have to say I think its my favorite part about my challey. I've also been randomly shopping for new spring / summer attire for work and for out around town. Unlike in Hawaii I can dress up and wear whatever I'd like to school / work which I love!!!! Seriously any reason to go shopping for new clothes right!!!
I hope the warmer weather is here to stay and cold has gone North for the summer!!!! (or where ever it goes lol)

Chilaxin w/ The Pups

We just got back from a run and we were having lots of cuddle time and kisses in the kitchen. I was exhausted and so were they, it was nice and warm out so I opened the door and we just chilled for a bit. I love our fur babies so much they really complete our family and keep us on our toes. They are great company when the hubbs is gone or working late. I'm looking forward to more days like today were we can go on runs together, they really push me (pull lol) to keep going.

She has this fascination with lights, such as the flash on the camera or a leaser. Its really funny to watch her go nuts over it, it could keep her entertained for a good hour straight or longer.

Daddy's little boy, so spoiled he was our first baby. Can't believe we've had these two for 3 years already.

Sitting so pretty waiting for a yummy treat, they are so well behaved. Ok well sometimes, if only we could work on the bed hogging at night then we'd be doing good.
