Dinner w/ New Friends

Once a month the ladies of Alpha company (one of the companies in the hubbs unit) have a get together. We aren't apart of a company yet, since the hubbs is still in school. (rumor has it we are going to A Co, fingers crossed) However a few months ago I met two lovely ladies via FB that are in A Co, they had invited me out to join them for their February get together. Stupidly I didn't go, I don't for the life of me remember what my reasoning behind it was either. I kicked myself in the butt for it after wards.
Last week rolled around and the invite came out again. I had nothing going on, no good logical reason why I couldn't go. I mean even the hubbs was going to be gone in the field for the next few days. When I mentioned to him about the dinner he encouraged me to go and have fun. I still wasn't to sure because I didn't know any of the wives that were going to be there in real life. Only 2 of them through FB who I was excited about meeting.
My work day came to a end, I was going to do this, I'm going to go and have a horrible time.
(this was the thoughts running through my head)
We were going to Sato a local Japanese Steak house. Now let me just take a second to tell you I am your typical American girl, when it comes to food so I was so nervous I wouldn't like anything on the menu.

Headed to dinner w/ the ladies!!!!
Let me tell you what yall dinner turned out fabulous, even better than I was expecting. The food was super yummy I had Teriyaki Chicken, Fried Rice, Japanese Soup and salad. The portion sizes were giant I couldn't even eat half of my dinner. YAY for left overs!!!!
The company was hands down the best I've experienced since getting here to Ft. Jackson. They were so welcoming, not clickish at all like the wives in our FRG in HI. They were like one big family all 8 of us that is. No one tried to out do the other person or make themselves seem more uppity than the other. It was a much needed sigh of relief. We laughed all night long, it was great getting to know everybody.
After dinner we made our way out to the parking lot were we continued to chat for another 45 minutes. I think if it wasn't so late we would have been there for a good long while. K & I (one of the wives from dinner) have talked quite a bit on FB prior to this evening. We work with in a couple miles of each other and have plans to get together for lunch next week. I'm looking forward to it, she is a super sweet gal & we hit it off fantastic!!!!!!!
By far hands down tonight was one of the best evenings out w/ out the hubbs that I've had since moving here to the South. Some things are finally starting to look up and fall in to place.
I'm looking forward to getting together with the Alpha Company ladies again soon!!! There's a BBQ this weekend that we were invited to, that they are putting together so we might go to that.
I'm so glad that I'm finally meeting some Milispouse's & not to mention making friends that are my age.

Oh that's so great to read! I think it's a common fear (at least for me) to get into a clique-y group. Too childish, for me, and so unnecessary. I'm still hoping to find some more great ladies to hang out with. Though I'm thankful for the few I have met.
Enjoy yourself and your weekend!
