Its that time again

I hate separations more than anything, it just down right sucks. We are nearing the end of Drill School and graduation is just days away. However it wouldn't end with out a trip to the field now would it, of course not. I sat and watched as the hubbs packed his things up, getting ready to spend the next three days out in the field here on post. It was bitter sweet because I know once he graduates our time together is going to be very limited.

Rumor has it that life as a Drill Wife is a whole other ball game aside from your typical Army Spouse.
Its compared to a deployment in ways because of the long hours ~ 14-15 + hour work days.
7 days a week with not a break in sight for 10 straight weeks.
Of course they get to come home at night & they aren't in harms way. Which I will gladly take any day but only to shower, sleep, get up and do it all over again the next day.

His days will consist of dealing with SIT (soldiers in training), young smart mouthy kids to be frank. Something I know he's not totally thrilled about. He would much rather be in a line unit with his battle buddies training to do what a Infantryman does best. By no means did he want to be a Drill SGT but this is our life for the next 2 (fingers crossed not a day later) years and we will make the very most out of it that we can!!!

I am going to miss him so much while he is away for the next 3 days. I do have a few dinner dates to keep me busy, so I'm looking forward to that. Ya, its only 3 days and I will live but we would spend every moment together if we could. I am so proud of how well he has done through school. I DIDN'T expect anything less, I mean he's a freaking rock star of a Soldier!!! He is one of I think 2 maybe 3 that has received ALL "First Goes" on each and every test. Meaning he hasn't had to retake a single one or messed up on any of his oral testings.
It's been a long 8 weeks but at the same time it seems like its gone by pretty face.
Only one more week before he officially receives his Campaign Hat and our two year count down starts.

If your the praying type, Please say a little prayer for us. We are going to need it to get through this tour. We know with out a doubt we can get through anything the Army throws our way but This is completely new to both of us, and will take some adjusting to get used to for sure.

Wow that is rough. I know my husband has mentioned that he never wants to be a drill sgt. But they are forced into it just like recruiting. I think they all just want to do what the job they signed up for instead. I did not know it was a 7 day all day thing but I guess it does make sense. Praying for you!

I'll be praying for you guys! I've haven't seen my husband for longer than 10 days in the past 6 months and that was only once. I definitely know how you feel...

It sucks when they are gone all the time. Thank goodness you keep yourself busy with work and occasional date night with friends. I hope life as a drill sgt won't be so bad.

"freaking rock star of a soldier"
Love it!! Love your support of your hubby!!
That's awesome he is doing so well. But I know it's a lot of work!
As army wives, we deal with a lot of change and adjustments. It will take some time, but I have nO doubt that you are super strong and you both will be just fine!
Praying for you love!
