Well nothing to exciting happened today work and spin class my typical Thursday. Seems to be my routine for Tuesday & Thursday evenings followed by a fabulous dinner cooked by yours truly. This evening we had breakfast for dinner, Omelets. I got a new cookbook over the weekend & had to break it in.
Just finished getting my workout on!! |
Following my earlier post I wanted to share a bit more about us for those of you that might not know. I found this survey that a fellow blogger friend had posted and I though it would be fun to do and share with others. Please fill free to copy and repost to your blog, I'd love to get to know you better!!!!!
1~Were did you meet your spouse?
We met over the phone through a mutual friend who was also stationed at Schofield at the same time. While he was in Hawaii & I was in Texas. He randomly called me one evening from my friend J's phone & one thing led to another and here we are over 5 years later.
2~How old were you when you met?
I was 20 he was 23.
3~How long have you been together?
November 29th will be 6 years together & November 9th will be 5 years Married!!!
4~Where are you and your spouse originally from?
I was born & raised in Dallas Fort Worth, TX and he was born in Frankfurt, Germany, being a Army brat himself he lived all over.
5~How did you feel about him joining the Military?
He had already been in for just over a year when we met. Although if he wasn't & had decided to join after we got together I would have supported him 100%. If it wasn't for him being in the army I don't know that we would have met.
6~Where did you spouse go for basic training?
He went to Ft. Benning, GA.
7~Has your spouse ever been deployed?
Yes :( both times to Iraq once on a 15 month deployment & then on a 12 month deployment.
8~Ever been to his promotion ceremony?
No, both times he was promoted that we have together he was deployed.
9~How long have you been a Military wife?
4 years & 2 months & loving every minute of it.
10~How did you husband propose?
He was on leave in Texas early July 07, to visit me and meet my family. A few days before he left we had lunch at a park near my house & he asked me to marry him then. I knew it was coming that week for many reasons, mainly because we had discussed it due to him deploying at the end of the year. There's a bit more to the story but I'll save that for a later day.
11~Where did you get married?
We were married at the Dallas World Aquarium in downtown Dallas. I wanted something different other than your traditional church wedding. Not that there's anything wrong with that, just wasn't for us.
12~How old were you when you got married?
I was 21 he was 24.
13~Did he wear his uniform on your wedding day.
He sure did and looked mighty FINE if I do say.
14~Where are you and your spouse currently stationed?
Ft. Jackson Columbia, SC
15~Do you live on base?
We do, and I'm pretty happy with the decision to life on post.
16~How long were you married before you had to go through a separation?
We had been married ONE month to the day before he left for his first deployment, that was the 15 month one.
17~What is your favorite base so far?
We've only been stationed two places so far, when he joined after basic he was given orders to Schofield Barracks Hawaii were he was stationed for 6 years and now we are at Ft. Jackson. HANDS DOWN Schofield is our favorite.
18~Do you think your spouse looks good in uniform?
Are you kidding me, he is smokin hot in his uniform.
19~Do you think that the Military life is more advanced than the Civilian life?
I think that life in the Military brings you closer together, and allows you to build a bond strong then you would if you were in the Civilian world. Being in the Military you live, breath and depend on the men & women you spend your every day with.
20~Do you like the benefits you receive as a military dependent?
Not having to worry about health care, retirement, having a ruff over our head, discounts like you wouldn't believe and a guaranteed pay check. Yes I would have to say I am very happy with the benefits.
21~Do you have a lot of military wife friends?
I do have quite a few MiliSpouse friends, but only a close few that I would consider extremely close friends. I'm blessed that my blog has also opened up more opportunities for me to meet new Milispouse's both here on the mainland and around the world.
22~What is the hardest part of the military?
1. Being away form my hubbs, weather that be due to a deployment, training or whatever. 2. The constant moving, having to leave our friends who have become family, and leaving a beautiful place.
23~Do you own a lot of military wife stuff?
I do have a few different things from shirts, hoodies, bags, key chains, pins, picture frames and I'm sure there are things I'm missing but thats a start.
24~Do you support your spouse as a member of the military?
Absolutely, words cant describe how proud of him I am!!!!!!!
This post has got me thinking so much about our wedding and how wonderful it was. I've been thinking a lot lately about recapping our wedding on here. I started blogging after we were married so I never posted about our fabulous day. A few fellow blogger friends were recently married, reading about there big day & seeing pictures makes me want to share our story.
So stay tune for a wedding recap to come soon!!!
